Base Tutorial

Post by Zuzztz »

Looking for a Base tutorial?

I recomend: Base Tutorial: From Newbie to Advocate in a one, two...three! by Mariano Casanova.

It's simply the best!

Many thanks for these suggestions. I do not know if it is me or my machine that is the problem,
BUT
Villeroy's suggestion (Do you miss this one?) leads back to the same 'page not found'
and
Therabi's (download version) appears to have an error in it: file header is "PDF -1.4" but neither Acrobat nor a couple of other PDF readers can open it.
When this issue has been resolved, it would help other users of the forum if you add the word - [Solved] - to the Subject line of your 1st post (edit button top right).

These links are not good, Arineckaig. No time just at present to sort out whether they are routing problems or bad server. As Arineckaig and myself are feeding through UK and there might be a fault on that route, would someone else in Europe or USA check if they have access, please?

I can reach the documentation site: http://openoffice.org/projects/document ... ctory/Base
And for the "Mid Level Base Tutorial" I see the following page content:

Code: Select all

Title + Description Updated Date Size Downloads
Base Tutorial: From Newbie.. 14 days ago 1.1 MB 56
Tutorial example code 14 days ago 4.9 KB 16
The Tutorial itself downloads as file_4770.dat with the PDF-1.4 header that Arineckaig has seen. But I couldn't read it with any of my PDF readers, either. The link to the example code file_4756.dat just give a blank page in the browser. The download counter works, it is incremented by one for each of my clicks. But obviously this doesnt necessarily mean that there are 50 happy readers of the tutorial somewhere throughout the world.

There are several macro languages in OOo, but none of them is called Visual Basic or VB(A)! Please call it OOo Basic, Star Basic or simply Basic.

I could download, but it was a corrupted file (which was then repaired by NeoOffice 3.1). But when I opened it, it was for OO.org 2.x not 3.x

It seems to be available here
http://www.scribd.com/doc/48635562/Base-Tutorial-OOo
but you have to log on to download it. It can be viewed without restriction, I think.

Delighted to find it appears to be back and can now be found at:

Later edit: Please ignore this link as the tutorial appears to have moved again. Use the first link in DACM's post below dated 18 March 2012
