File → Save As dialog box in Windows
File → Save As dialog box in Windows
Hello
I may be dreaming, but #1 pic is what I have always seen before, I save files daily for my records.
Now I'm getting #2 pic, just w Libre, saving any other file I get the condensed version, #1.
What am I missing or is it the dementia?

Re: SAVE AS DROP DOWN BOX in WIDOWS
You refer to LibreOffice in your question but your signature tells that you are using a very old version of OpenOffice; perhaps you could update your signature.
Go to Tools | Options | LibreOffice | General and remove the tick from Use LibreOffice dialogs.

Re: File → Save As dialog box in Windows
This ONLY happens w Libre, so why move it to MS Windows thread? Not a windows problem, need a knowledgeable Libre user.

Can you put my thread back in CALC where it will be seen? Why did you bury my Thread? Always had my problems solved within a day of posting in this forum, some very savy users lurking about. But not if they don't see it. Very surprised, always had good feedback and responses using this forum.

Re: File → Save As dialog box in Windows
I was the one who moved from Calc to Windows section. This is not a Calc issue. No formula, no spreadsheet problem. It is a troubleshooting problem linked to the Windows version of LO. The custom dialog option has been dropped in LO under GNU/Linux (at least on my TDF version of LO 24.8).
I just checked with my Windows version and I get the dialog #2 for any file saved in LO (in Writer, Calc...).

What do you mean? What the "any other file" means? In other applications than LO?

Re: File → Save As dialog box in Windows
First you said
that you had a WIDOWS problem, which we could assume to be a misspelling of Windows. Thus the MS Windows sub-forum was a good place for it. Then you said
you had a LibreOffice-only problem, so I moved your topic to the LibreOffice sub-forum. I don't understand why you would want it in the Calc sub-forum. The Save As dialog is common to all of the components: Writer, Calc, Impress, Draw, etc. It isn't a Calc problem unless you can test and show that Writer, Impress, and Draw don't encounter the problem.
It's near the top of the active topics, so I can't understand why you think it's buried. Most of the volunteers who are looking for problems to investigate here will look there first, and quite a few of them are familiar with LibreOffice. I think the LibreOffice sub-forum is the best place for your topic since you say it only affects LibreOffice.
That version is four years old. Maybe you will find that a more recent version works better on Windows.

Re: File → Save As dialog box in Windows
Got me for a typo, good one! If you don't have the solution, do not post please. Been to this forum twice in 10 years, problem was immediately solved both times. Those days are over evidently.

Re: File → Save As dialog box in Windows
I have not a Windows machine on which to investigate (and have not had for near 20 years), but I draw attention of Windows using volunteers to the two uploaded images, in the hope that they may bring their expertise to bear on my remarks.
The two images both have a triangular shading in the bottom right hand corner, which I vaguely remember from my windows days, but do not recollect its exact function. Might it indicate that the Save dialogs can be altered in size, either by shrinking or expansion?

Re: File → Save As dialog box in Windows
Yes it can but it does only resize the top area where the files and folders are shown. The lower area with the options remains at the same size.RoryOF wrote: ↑Sat Jan 18, 2025 8:45 pm The two images both have a triangular shading in the bottom right hand corner, which I vaguely remember from my windows days, but do not recollect its exact function. Especially if you don't answer the questions we ask you (see my previous post).
However, by curiosity, I checked your older topics. It has the same despicable tone I can't stand with users like you (kind of know it all, never wrong...), thus, last post in this topic for me.

Re: File → Save As dialog box in Windows
I am not obligated to follow your rule. If you don't like my post, you can ignore it. I posted to advise you, and others, that I was helping with your solution by ensuring that the topic was in the appropriate sub-forum. And I do have a suggestion which might lead you in the direction of a solution, however, since you are unpleasant I decline to offer that advice. I volunteer my time here and don't feel a need to help you.
You will find that a great many people have been provided with solutions in the past few months. But if you don't find the forum helpful then you can get double your money back. I will not regret if you left us, permanently.
Same for me, unless fjwag3 presents further criticism of my posts or the management of this topic. I have even better news for them. I promise not to help with a solution in any of their future posts and hope they are satisfied with what they've accomplished here.
