Hi
Hope you can help as I'm going mad trying to work out the best way to do this.
So I have a column (ex. H3) which I can pop in Yes/No through a drop down, if this column is filled with No I want the cells further along (Ex. H7 & H8) to be blacked out to show we can ignore that cell.
Can anyone aid in the best formula for this as I'm at my wits end.
Thank you

Re: Lock and Grey Out Cells based on another Cell
You can do this with Conditional Formatting. Select cells H7 and H8. Choose the menu item Format -> Conditional Formatting. Change the box at the top left from Cell Value Is to Formula Is. In the box to the right of that, enter $H$3 = "No". Click the New Style button. On the Organizer tab, give the style a name and on the Background tab, choose a dark color. You may also want to change other properties of the style. Click OK to exit the dialogs.
Your cells will now use the new style when H3 contains No.

OpenOffice 4.1 on Windows 10 and Linux Mint
