I am having difficulties with Microsoft One Drive. Is it compatible with Open Office?

Couple of questions:

Why do you need OneDrive? What purpose will it serve you?

Your forum signature looks as if it might be outdated: what version of OpenOffice are you using and on what operating system?

In any case, neither OpenOffice nor LibreOffice have any components that are geared towards using OneDrive. As far as I am aware (I don't use OneDrive) your document files produced by OpenOffice/LibreOffice could be stored on OneDrive but you would have to manage that yourself through Windows.

A cloud drive must not distinguish between file types. Files are just files. I save all my files on the local disk of my laptop. In ery rare cases, if I want to share some file with other devices of mine, I save it to a special folder on my local disk which is synchronized with my NextCloud drive. NextCloud treats every file just like any other file in the NextCloud folder, synchronizing all of them with a folder on a NextCloud server. If there is no internet connection, or even worse, an unstable connection, I always have the original file on the local disk. I would never ever trust any cloud service provided by Microsoft or Google.
Please, edit this topic's initial post and add "[Solved]" to the subject line if your problem has been solved.

Personally, I just got a new laptop so this meant I had to find a way of synchronising files between it and my desktop. Bought and tried Resilio Sync Pro for a while but didn't like it much. Then found Syncthing and a front-end for it called SyncTrayzor (which is what I actually use now). Syncthing does the job just fine, it is open-source and free and it has a helpful forum too.

For both Resilio Sync and Syncthing there are helpful videos on YouTube to explain the basics of setting them up and how to use. Both offer the benefits of 'the cloud' for synchronisation but cut out the middle-man, Microsoft, Google, whatever – you run it yourself and all data transmission is encrypted.

For my own use I have my desktop connected to my router via Ethernet and my router communicates with my laptop via Wi-Fi. This 'communication chain' works fine, both directions, without issues. That said I'll now research Nextcloud to see what that is about, initial look says it goes well beyond my simple needs.
