Can't open ODT files: Contact the administrator

Post by JoanMWalker »

I cannot open ODT files that I have created and get the message to contact administrator. I believe I am the administrator as I am the only person that uses this desk top! How do I solve this please?

Edit: Changed subject, was ODT files

Firstly, welcome to the forum. :0)

I think the best answer you could get would be to forget about OpenOffice and install LibreOffice instead. There are several good reasons for this, some of which are given here: [Tutorial] Considering a Switch from OpenOffice to LibreOffice? Some Useful Information

You might find that installing and using LibreOffice will solve the problem all by itself.
LibreOffice (Still) 7.6.5.2 (x64) Fully installed to system on Windows 10 and Windows 11
LibreOffice (Still) Portable 7.6.5.2 (x86) [PortableApps] on Windows 10

Probably your anti-virus or firewall needs to be told to allow access to OpenOffice.
