I have nearly all the buttons visible and there are two rows of them,

Re: No windows button on taskbar - unable to freeze rows/columns

The control of freezing or splitting the view of a Calc document is done through the WIndow menu, not a button. Do you not see the Window menu item near the top of the screen?

MacOS does not have a taskbar. Mac FAQ Q11/A11: What happened to my menu bar (OpenOffice, File, Edit, etc.)?

Those are OpenOffice toolbar buttons, not the MacOS menu bar. Read what Apple says: To stop using the app full screen …

If this solved your problem please go to your first post use the Edit button and add [Solved] to the start of the Subject field. Select the green checkmark icon at the same time.

There is no WINDOW button on top of screen anywhere, no menu bar like in the videos I have seen.
There are two rows of buttons that are enabled but no menu bar.

Then can you upload a screenshot of what your screen looks like?
See How to attach a document here). Crop your screenshot so that it takes less than 128KBi.

Here is my menu in LibreOffice:

Its actually pretty straight forward... there is no menu listing on the top of the window like yours = File View Insert Format Styles Sheet Data Tools
I have used the freeze function on LIbreOffice, and Google spreadsheets so am familiar with the process you speak of.
But there is nowhere to "view" or click on a drop down menu from a "window" button. ITs simply not there, but the two rows of other functions are there.

Thanks

You haven't (inadvertently?) placed OpenOffice in full screen mode as mentioned in the link MrProgrammer provided above?

Please share a Screenshot of your screen. Maybe someone has an idea, what you are looking at - even, if we don't use a Mac... (If I'm remembering right, menus were at the top of the screen outside the actual window of the application?)
