[Solved] Evaluate math expression
[Solved] Evaluate math expression
In Excel there is an Eval function for evaluating expressions given as String value. Is there a way to achieve a goal similar that one in OO? For example, an user is able to evaluate expressiona like sin(90) + cos(30)/3.

Re: Evaluate math expression
Select the cell, then put an = sign before the formula when it shows in the Formula bar. You may beed to turn on /;View /Formula Bar to see the Formula bar.You may (I'm not not certain) need to bracket the complete expression, viz.:
=(sin(90) +cos(30)/3)
=(sin(90) +cos(30)/3)

So yes, I cross posted to get a quick answer while this post keep unapproved state. I received a useful information yet, pointing there is no way to take literally strings an evaluate a function without using spreadsheets and cells in OO or LO.If you cross post, as a courtesy please let us know that you have done so
