[Solved] Disable OpenOffice launch at boot Mint 19
[Solved] Disable OpenOffice launch at boot Mint 19
Open Office launches at boot, Linux Mint 19. This is new. I would like to get rid of the behavior without getting rid of OpenOffice. I have tried this and that. It's really irritating - I don't think I can put up with the behavior

Re: disable OpenOffice launch at boot Mint 19
This is more properly a linux Mint 19 problem; you should investigate (on a Mint forum?) what error of installation causes a program to automatically start on system boot.

Yes - the Super/Windows key does nothing. Startup Applications is nowhere to be found.

Re: Disable OpenOffice launch at boot Mint 19
The Quickstarter's check box was already unchecked, meaning I somehow fouled up openoffice in such a way that installing over it didn't fix. I see that Mint 21 is out. I could, sometime this weekend, back everything up and do a clean install of 21. Maybe as a stall.

This should work with the default Cinnamon Desktop in Mint.

If you're using the MATE desktop, look for Startup Applications in the Control Center.

Re: Disable OpenOffice launch at boot Mint 19
I'm using XFCE desktop.
Startup could be hidden in home dir ~/.config/autostart but no
X-GNOME-Autostart-enabled=false
or
Startup could be in /etc/xdg/autostart/
but there is no no openoffice or soffice there
I will put up with Apache OpenOffice launching at boot for the time being.

Weird, how OpenOffice has been installed?
OpenOffice 4.1.12 - Windows 10
Re: Disable OpenOffice launch at boot Mint 19
This is not a Windows 10 problem. I have done as much as I'm willing to figure out how come.
For now, I will put up with Apache OpenOffice launching at boot. That's not the only problem with my old Mint 19. I downloaded the Linux Mint 21 xfce iso and will do a clean install. Apache Open Office will go in after purging Libre Office.
It's going to take a little while to do the upgrade - I hope I don't lose too much.
