Print user size (9"x12") on Brother MFC J5945DW

Post by dreamquartz »

Hello All,

Cannot figure out how to print on a 9"x12" envelope on a Brother MFC J5945DW printer.
The printer can handle lager formats, so there should not be any issue.
It appears to be a User size, but under Ubuntu 20.04 LTS I don't seem to be able to.

Any suggestions?

My workaround is not to bother printing envelopes unless I had a run of several hundred to print (which I don't). I print the address on a sheet of paper, chop it to size and paste it on the envelope. Having worked in a graphics environment I have always to hand a paper trimmer and paste, but a scissors will do just as well.

Thanks for your response. Sadly it is multiple envelopes every time to different people. They need to receive the actual documents, due to regulatory requirements.
Email would be so nice.

I did read somewhere that Windows has a User setting option for paper size, when

I don't run Windows out of principle (worked in the field.......)

I suggest setting up a template to print the address/return address on A4 paper (which I think is closest standard printer supported size to a 9" x 12 " envelope) and seeing if a 9 x 12" paper/envelope will feed: frequently printers do not monitor the paper widths in their feed tray, and you should get away with the slight difference in length.
