Mathtype 6.0

Post by Iasonas »

I am about to put together a paper and I was given a template where it is mentioned that: Equations should be edited by Mathtype, not in text or graphic versions. You are suggested to use Mathtype 6.0 (or above version).
Is the equation editor of OpenOffice compatible to that?

No, if the assignment requires embedded MathType objects, you need to install MathType. It installs as a plugin to OpenOffice and Microsoft Office.

You can download the plugin from Design Science. The 30 day trial is fully functional, and if you do not choose to buy it, it still works after it expires. It then changes to a "lite" version, which means you lose some productivity benefits (like custom keyboard shortcuts), but AFAIK all formula editing tools are still available. Make sure you download the correct version for your system. (Version field on the download page). Note that there are two versions for Mac OS-X.
Apache OO 4.1.12 and LibreOffice 7.5, mostly on Ms Windows 10
