[Solved] Can't write Ni_3 (PO_4)_2

Post by debaser »

I need to write the formula for Nickel(II) phosphate for an online class. When I type it out the Ni shows up as ? . So my formula ends up ?3(PO_4)_2. What can I do?

Hi and welcome to the forum!

Use: "Ni"_3 (PO_4)_2
The Ni string may be used for a special feature in Math, requesting other arguments.

Please add [Solved] at the beginning of the title in your first post (top of the topic) with the edit button if your issue has been fixed.

Minor quibble

Literal text (quoted) and variable names (unquoted) may have different formatting, so better quote all element names in the formula.
"Ni"_3 ("PO"_4)_2

The default setting for Math is to use plain characters for literal text, and italics for variable names.
