Is there an alternative to Math?

I'm running OOO3.1 on Windows 7 Home Premium.

I am a long-time TeX user who has had to use Word once in a while.
You can download a program called Aurora to enter math formulas into a Word document.
Aurora is great for TeX users like myself because such formulas are entered using TeX nomenclature.

Is there a program like Aurora for entering TeX formulas into a Write document?

I've just learned that Aurora
"works with any Windows application that has an “Insert Object...” function or lets you paste images."

OOO's Write seems to be such an application.
I'll be trying to make this work myself but would gratefully accept any advice.

One possibility:
KLatexFormula
I do not recommend it, though, nor the others similar projects you can find googling a bit: AFAIK all those projects insert equations as images which is not the best approach, IMO.
Math syntax is similar to LaTeX so you will not be in trouble if your document have just a few equations.
But if you need to type a lot of math close any traditional word processor and try LyX.

That has the same issue that RGB raised, it inserts formulae as images.

OOo Math is good for most basic purposes. If you need to produce something more advanced then you're probably better off finding a good TeX editor and writing the whole document in TeX.

But you can select the image and then click on the editor (recall the macro) to edit it. The .emf (of OOoLatex) and .svg (of TexMaths) images seem to me to be of good quality, the latter "can even resize your equations without any resolution loss" according to the TexMaths site (true to at least some extent for .emf, I believe).
