[Solved] Formula problem with version 4.0

Post by 321go »

I've just installed the new 4.0 version of OpenOffice. The formula editor (Math) works fine to create new formulas. However, both old
Writer and Draw documents, which I had created before I installed version 4, appear to have problems with the formulas that already existed before:
They are still there, but the text is tiny (it can barely be seen) and in italics.
Is there a way to recover the old formulas without having to re-write them all?
Thanks a lot

Greetings and welcome to the community forum!

I do remember there have been some compatibility issues with formulas in newer releases, but I don't remember anything like you describe. I have a couple of old documents with formulas that seem to be fine in OO 4.0.

Maybe it's a known problem but I wonder if maybe it isn't a font--that is, installed font--issue? Maybe the older formulas call for a font that isn't available in the updated system?

It might help if you could attach one of your documents--or a small sample of it--here so we can try it.

The problem is actually much simpler than I had imagined. I just double-clicked the formulas and they came back to normal.
Thank you anyway, it's good to know that help is available when we need it.
