Alternative for OneNote?

No add of any sort, and no feature limitation, unless you go premium?

Re: Alternative for OneNote?
Yes we absolutely need this. Soon enough there will be more tablets than computers (in fact there won't be any difference between a tablet, a phone, and a computer anymore). that means: LOTS OF TOUCH SCREENS! and with touch screens, note-taking apps will become the biggest thing around. Most of the tools needed for a OneNote-ish program (drawing, writing, recording sound, making shapes...) are already included in OpenOffice. It wouldn't be too impossible to make a OneNote-ish app.
We definitely need it, though. If there's anything I respect Microsoft for, it's the absolutely perfect OneNote they made. It's the best collaboration tool ever. If only we had an open source alternative. Basket Note Pads is probably the best alternative but for KDE only, and it seems to me it's not being developed very much; an OpenOffice version would have much more potential.

There is no chance that the entire MS software portfolio will be cloned by any company or organization any time soon. Please use the software you like and stop this mindless propaganda ("We need this now!"). Who are you? Everybody needs something else right now and for free.
The complete ignorance towards the Open Document Format will not hide away the matter of fact that ODF is the one and only reason why OpenOffice.org exists.
Again: The functionality offered by OneNote is tightly bound to the Microsoft operating system called "Windows" and it has absolutely nothing to do with document creation, let alone the ODF standard.

Where did you get this "fact" from? It's obviously completely untrue given that OpenOffice.org and its predecessors existed long before ODF was even proposed.Villeroy wrote:The complete ignorance towards the Open Document Format will not hide away the matter of fact that ODF is the one and only reason why OpenOffice.org exists.

History of OpenDocument at OpenDocument.xml.org1999 The Development of an XML default file format begins at StarDivision. Limitations of the old binary format and a need for Unicode support trigger the change. The goal is to create an open interoperable file format that can be used and implemented by other vendors as well.
ODF and StarOffice/OOo are tightly related. It's the classical chicken/egg problem... or if you prefer, gull/egg

The ability to create new HSQL databases is the only feature which is unrelated to ODF, and it is the feature where this software obvoiusly fails.
