No Wizard fields to choose from
No Wizard fields to choose from
I want to create a simple form using the Form Wizard.
When I get to the 'Select the fields for your form' there are none displayed in the box below.
Thinking something might be corrupted, I reinstalled Open Office and used the Repair option. Still no fields to choose from.
So I completely deleted Open Office and reinstalled afresh. Still no fields to choose from.
Can someone please suggest a way around this problem.
I'm using Windows 7, 64bit.

I'm not certain because I don't use Windows 7, but I remember that OpenOffice needs a 32 bit Java for certain functions, mostly Base functions. I think you need to install a 32bit version of Java, then go to
/ Tools/ Options/ OpenOffice.org / Java and check "use a Java JRE"; wait some short time and the installed Java versions will appear. Check the 32 bit Java version and OK out.
Note: 32 bit Java! This is important.

Re: No Wizard fields to choose from
Thanks for that. I'm a bit concerned that 32bit Java will overwrite the 64bit version which may be needed by some of my other programs.
So before taking the plunge I ran the database program again.
This time when selecting 'Use Wizard to create form', both the 'base form' and 'wizard form' were displayed - one on top of the other. Still no fields listed. Killing the wizard form also killed the base form, as if they were somehow connected.
The plot thickens !

The 32 bit Java will live alongside 64 bit Java.

Thanks.
Both 32 and 64bit Java now installed and confirmed. PC restarted.
Unfortunately no change in the database - both forms still being being displayed and no fields listed.
Any other ideas?

What version of OOo this happens? You really uses OOo 3.0.x version what you put into signature? First upgrade to OOo 3.3.

Re: No Wizard fields to choose from
I'm using OOo 3.3 and will need various types of field types on my form.
Thanks for the link to the tutorial - I'll have a go.
Free software is great, but if you can't get it to work, it's useless.
