I am frequently (daily or more) sent excel files from external sources with data I need to manipulate using a database (normally to match to internal or historic data in csv, tab delimited txt .xls or .xlsx).
From the in program help search the only way to get this into Base is to first open it in calc then copy an paste it, is there a better way?
Part or the issue is data validation, Access has import validation which is useful but not essential, but the size of a copy and paste is more often a potential issue due to the data set size since it's files of 100k+ lines with a dozen or more columns. Calc has just crashed 3 times trying to open a 46k excel file so I'm not filled with confidence.
