Java Settings for Writer
Hey can anyone tell me how to change the settings for the JVM? I would like to bump Xmx, Xms and Xmn (are there any others I am not aware of?).
I updated Extras->Options->OO.org->Java->JRE->Parameters settings for example -DXmx1024k.
I am running WinXP 64 on AMD 9850 Quad with 4Gigs.
Any help, hints appreciated.
Thanks.

Re: Java Settings for oowriter
From the main menu
Tolls>Options
OpenOffice.org-> Java
On the right side of dialog the button "Parameters" - click it
Enter your start parameters

Re: Java Settings for oowriter
I guess I should be more specific. Can you tell what java options I can manipulate that will have any affect on the oowriter, how to set them in the parameters dialog (i.e. do I have to use -DXmx1024k as shown in my previous append) and lastly which ones might alleviate issues with oowriter handling documents that have a large amount of images. I think what I have done is working somewhat since the application actually seems to start faster and does some processing quicker, though that just might be me. Here is what I have, have I done it right? Any other suggestions?
Any help appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Java Settings for oowriter
Only a part of OOo is developed in Java. For a much bigger part C++ has been used. So I don't think that you can alleviate issues with OOo Writer handling documents that have a large amount of images. Try the settings at "Tools" > "Options..." > "OpenOffice.org" > "Memory" instead.ErickGriffin wrote:Any other suggestions?

Re: Java Settings for oowriter
Would these be the memory per object and number of objects to keep in cache?
On Windows I set my mem/obj to 1,0MB since none are clearly more than 100KB and the number of objects in cache to 100. Still on windows x64 with 4GB of ram, OO gets to 1.6GB or so, stops assembling the document and when I go look inside there are a number of image frames that just say READ ERROR. I assume this is because OO ran out of memory, correct me if I am wrong. Oh, my memory for OO itself is set to around 20MB, should that be higher?
Thanks.

Re: Java Settings for oowriter
I take it you mean the settings available with Tools>Options>OpenOffice.org>Memory?
No, those are not related to the java runtime engine, they affect the memory used by the uno objects throughout the rest of OO.o
